About Us

We’re Fatima and Mariam—two Canadian-Muslim sisters, athletes, and lifelong thrill-seekers who find peace, strength, and renewal in the outdoors. Whether it’s hiking, rafting, biking, or cliff jumping, being outside is our way to recharge from the hustle of daily life and reconnect with ourselves and each other.

Over the years, we’ve realized something important: as much as we love the outdoors, we rarely see people who look like us—Muslim women or other female minorities—represented in these spaces. That visibility matters. It shapes who feels like they belong and who feels confident taking that first step toward outdoor adventure.

That’s what inspired us to create Hayati Outdoors.

“hayati” (حياتي) means my life in Arabic—and that’s exactly what we want this space to represent. At Hayati Outdoors, my life, outdoors isn’t just a slogan—it’s an invitation. It’s about making room for underrepresented women to explore the outdoors on their own terms, try new things, and discover what adventure means to them.

We’re here to make sure more women get the chance to live their life, outdoors.

Our Mission

We’re dedicated to enhancing diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility in outdoor fitness and adventure. Our mission is to create events and group trips that offer a safe, welcoming, and comfortable space for underrepresented female communities to explore, grow, and thrive in nature.

We especially focus on empowering Black, South Asian, and Muslim women to engage with and find joy in outdoor experiences—whether they’re just starting their journey or looking to push their limits.

Our Why

When we see others like us exploring and thriving in nature, we’re reminded that we belong here too. By creating inclusive, representative, and accessible pathways into outdoor spaces, we’re opening the door for more women to experience the physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits that nature has to offer.
